The Simpsons: Matt Groening Reveals Springfield Location

Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons , has finally revealed the location and inspiration behind the town of Springfield. There’s been a lot of gags on the show pertaining to the location of the city, but we can now tell you that it was all inspired by the town of Springfield, Oregon, which is located about 100 miles south of Portland. Groening told The Smithsonian in an interview, “I don’t want to ruin it for people, you know? Whenever people say it’s Springfield, Ohio, or Springfield, Massachusetts, or Springfield, wherever, I always go, ‘Yup, that’s right.’” Read the interview here . The Simpsons Alphabet

Artist Mike Boon has created this cool print featuring the alphabet with characters from one of the all-time best TV shows, The Simpsons . The letters are all represented with the shows key players and more prominent re-occurring characters. We would have liked to see Disco Stu in the mix, but then again, Disco Stu doesn’t advertise. Prints of the alphabet are available here . Peep the full alphabet after the jump.
