This Holiday, Vans presents a women’s accessories collection including some cute bags, purses and clutches in black and red. Next to a selection of women’s shirts and outerwear pieces it is especially the heart purse that has caught my eye. Appearing all but too girly at the first view, the purse shows it’s effect with the right styling as seen on the outtake of the Vans lookbook featured on the next page. With the presentation of the Pirelli Calendar 2013 in Rio de Janeiro, an accompanying video that documents the shoot was also released. The video is not just a simple behind-the-scenes video but more a documentation of the city, it’s beauty, and social life. When asking Steve McCurry about the scenery he stated: “I tried to portray Brazil, its landscape, its economy and its culture, along with the human element. This was the story I wanted to tell through my lens. For me photography is an important expressive means to tell large and small stories of daily life.” In the first images we shared from the shoot we already got an insight to McCurry’s intention to show the models and actresses depicting bits and pieces of daily life in Brazil. In comparison to former Pirelli Caledndar editions this years publication differs not only in displaying the models dressed but also in showing two pictures entirely composed of graffiti and murals. Actress, director, producer and brand new mom Drew Barrymore add the feather of fashion photography to her cap by shooting Charlotte Gainsbourg in a campaign dedicated to Tommy Hilfiger’s effort to support Breast Health International, an international organization dedicated to aiding women dealing with the fallout of breast cancer. On working with Barrymore, Gainsbourg says watching her in action was an inspiration: “When I saw her trying her hand at photography, it wasn’t that I thought, Oh, why not me? But I’ve been asked in the past if I would be open to that, and now I’m thinking, Well, yes, why not? And directing is not something I think I’m capable of, but it’s on my mind. Maybe I’ll never do it, but I’m thinking about it. It’s no longer something I refuse to even look at.” More images on the next page. The Nike Hyperdunk ‘Syracuse’ in Wolf Grey / Orange Blaze is yet another Nike Hyperfuse creation and a nod to Syracuse Orange, particularly their game against San Diego State on the USS Midway this past weekend. This comes on the heels of the Obsidian/Metallic Silver-Photo Blue-Ice Blue that was released a couple of days back and retailed for $160. In this iteration, wolf grey predominates the color scheme but the orange is the scene-stealer appearing on the laces, heel, lining, midsole, and the exposed flywire.
