We’re used to seeing older styles from Nike getting the Vintage treatment, which was why it was a bit of a surprise to see the Toki recently receive it. Originally released in 2008, the vulcanized chukka is seen here in an off-white canvas upper with a matching Swoosh. The midsole gets dirty here with a little black wash to complete the look. An all star line-up of graffiti writers is in Detroit at the moment for the Detroit Beautification Project. One of the most interesting pieces to have gone up until now is by artist Sever. Entitled the ‘Death of Street Art’, where a casket is being carried by Twist, Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey, Banksy, Futura, and Kaws. A true statement of the current market and scene? Certainly an interesting piece and strong statement. Paul Smith knows how to take something traditional and make it exclusive. Within his larger Ivy League-inspired collection made for menswear retailer MR PORTER, no where else is this more clearly evident than in his take on the varsity jacket, the flagship part of a line-up of this stature. Leaving much of the traditional behind, Sir Smith takes the luxury that is premium black leather for the sleeves, uses navy cotton twill for the body of the coat, and inserts a chest pocket in place of the collegiate letter that gives this jacket its name. A smooth liner, 5 black buttons, a cotton and cashmere-blend ribbed stand collar and hem, and an internal pouch pocket complete the look. Tokyo based streetwear label BackChannel have a good working relationship with military inspired luggage label Bullet . They have successfully completed numerous collaboration project and their latest venture is the seemingly simple camera straps. Upon initial inspection, this camera strap does not look all that different from other camera straps out there, yet it hides some useful functions for the everyday photographer. A quick release mechanism is integrated to enable rapid release of the strap, similar to a conventional messenger bag strap. It can also be tightened up relatively fast and for a complete detachment of the camera, three quick release buckles are fitted on the strap. Furthermore, it comes with a shorter wrist strap that can be attached to the aforementioned quick release buckles. A durable parachute cord material is used on these items and it is accented by a BackChannel label on the outer portion. Another new month and another new set of Casio G-Shock timepieces. With 2012 nearly half over, the maker of electronic devices decided to introduce one more new collection to the already brimful product line. In its introduction of the new Native American Pack for Spring 2012, Vans OTW presented a brief video on OffTheWall TV with some of the collection’s design highlights. Comprised a trio of VANS OTW classic silhouettes – Bedford, Ludlow, and Alomar, each draped in muted earth tone leather, washed canvas, and accents in indigenous prints. Details such as laser etched logos and antiqued metal eyelets complete the overall themed design. All three are currently available at select VANS OTW retail locations.

Today we take an exclusive first look at the complete Thom Browne x Dita eyewear collection which features sunglasses, eyeglasses and eyeglasses with clip-on tinted lenses. The aesthetics of each frame are derived from classic poets, writers and musicians of the 40s, 50s and 60s and completed with Browne’s signature tri-color red, white and blue branding.
