Many rumors circulated about who would take over the artistic director position at DIOR, after designer John Galliano was fired last year for anti-Semitic remarks. From Marc Jacobs to Riccardo Tisci from Givenchy, many names were coming up in the discussions. One name that was never confirmed nor denied, was Raf Simons‘. With his recent departure from Jil Sander, people assumed that Simons would spend more time on his own label, but it looks like the puzzle pieces are all falling into place.
Apparently the official announcement will be made on Wednesday – Raf Simons will be the new artistic director of DIOR, as reported today by the New York Times. It will be interesting to see in what direction Raf Simons will take the brand, because he is clearly completely different from Galliano. Soon we will know more.
